A year after the devastating earthquake, Wafaa, a teacher at Taiwan Center, addressed the student group, offering comfort to each person affected by the tragedy. She reassured them that they are part of the Taiwan Center #family.
That evening, Ghazal and Jana’s mother, whose children attend Arabic classes, invited Wafaa to their home. The modest house, located near Taiwan Center, Wafaa was greeted by a warm smile from the mother, who navigates life in a wheelchair.
Originally from Syria, this family was forced to flee their home after the outbreak of war, leaving Idlib to start a new life in Turkey. In their tiny house in Antakya, the laughter of their five children once filled the air until another tragedy struck.
The mother recalled, “At 4:17 in the morning, the house started shaking, the roof and walls collapsing violently. I had no time to think before losing consciousness.” 🚑 She continued, “I regained consciousness five days later, trying to move my body but failing. I screamed and shouted, but to no avail, because I could no longer move.”
Despite the immense pain and helplessness, the mother did not give up. She bravely confronted the challenges that occurred in life, seeking hope and meaning for herself and her children. 💡 Her resilience and determination are truly inspiring.
